Modernization theory among the developing countries like Zimbabwe is assumed to create a significant impact on the transfer of goods, technologies, industries and Western norms (Ojo, 2004). But there are blurred lines that deliberately showing between eh development planning and foreign government and commercial interests lend by the modernization. The women remain struggles to enlarge the spheres of influence of the political, economic, and social areas, and it seems that the movement of Zimbabwe towards the modern society can produce the inequalities among the genders. The women are freed from the traditional strings that hold their potentials. Considering that the globalization influences the communications and technologies among the developing countries, there still an intersection on the issue of gender and welfare. Both governmental and non-governmental initiatives are focused for the ways that can improve the livelihood of the people, but there are instances that the gender inequalities are present due to the level of information given by the media, the education of people, and the interest given by the people prior to that information (Robins, 2002).
The influence of rapid economic productivity and social developments became the center of attention of the leaders that often, they forget the true value they learned in the pre-modernization period – and that is to include all the people (the entire society) towards the changes. The action of the society manifests in their confidence to show the nature of civilization and being active participants. The modernization in developing countries should allow the individual to internalize the process in modernization to cope with the changes in a way of a modern society and that is to expect and demand for it. If there is a higher empathy or trust, people can be able to move out of their traditional setting and expand the horizon. There is also a great opportunity to adopt on the Western culture, as well as their way of lie, faster. The mobility of changes such as the urbanization and increase in literacy level, the mass media seems to be the most desirable way in spreading the ideas across the regions of Zimbabwe.
In order to have a success in administering the changes, everybody should play their essential roles towards the modernization. All of the changes in the education, culture, and mass media might be patterned according to the Western society but the growth and enriching the changes lies in the developing country- Zimbabwe (Ojo, 2004). The improvement in the situation and socio-economic status of women became one of the major objectives of the countries under the theory of modernization. This is also the sought after answer in promoting the gender equality. Through empowering the women by the strategies of access in education, health care, support from microfinance institutions, justice, and employment. Eliminating the influence of gender disparities is a good start to emphasize the role of women within the society and fight against the discrimination. The impact of modernization in Zimbabwe introduced the tough exercises to create the path towards the development of the society (Morrisson & Jutting, (2004).
