* 5 thesis statements that compare classical view of management with human relations movement.
Thesis statements:
In business, management science is more favored than human relations because it treats issues in rational, objective and quantitative terms rather than rely on intuition.
The slogan “People are our most important resources” is a false and hypocritical statement because when revenues of top management fails, they result to mass-layoffs, shoving out their “most important resource”.
Unions should be encouraged by an organization, because according to Hoerr (1991), “strong unions can make stronger companies”(p. 31).
[Note: Unions are traditionally perceived as obstacles to competitiveness.(Devine & Trayner, 1996) ]
The human relations movement is not an effective philosophy to be applied by managers, because even though the employees are happy, they are unproductive.
Because the goal of both science management movement and human relations movement is to ensure an organization’s success, the reconciliation between the two styles of management is possible.
