Task 6 – How and why can a student’s pronunciation affect the quality of his/her communication?

 

          Student’s pronunciation affects the quality of his/her communication, in a way that it boosts the confidence of the student to speak and communicate more.  Being able to have a good pronunciation skill may let the student easily cope with conversations. Sometimes, wrong pronunciation may lead to misunderstanding and misinterpretation which may result in conflict, hence, through proper pronunciation this will be avoided.

 

 

 

Task 7 – Indicate the major ways in which English sounds are joined and linked. Give your own examples:

 

 

The relationship between English spelling and English pronunciation is not very clear. English dictionaries, therefore, need another way to show the pronunciation of English words. Most dictionaries use a variation of the characters proposed by the IPA- International Phonetic Association - to show English pronunciation. There is a system for writing the sounds of English.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Task 8 – What are the benefits in students learning the phonemic alphabet?

 

 

Phonemic awareness is an important tool in the decoding of written English. Phonetic symbols are a great help when it comes to learning to pronounce English words correctly. In addition, learning the phonemic alphabet may help the students to easily understand what the word in indicating. In addition, if the student has complete phonemic awareness it may help them read words which they have not seen before and it may also help in spelling and memorizing. Another benefit is writing.  Students may express their thoughts using phonemic symbols even if he has never seen the word in print before.
