With reference to relevant literature, discuss the concept of the nurse- patient relationship and relate this to your clinical practice experiences and observations.
Introduction: The introduction will let the reader know what you will cover in your essay.
You should include a short discussion about what is a concept (with a reference/s to support this) and
why you think this is relevant to nursing.

Main body: Start with a review of the literature that you have read on the concept you have chosen
You may then wish to reflect on your experience in practice and consider some of the following:

-Why was this experience significant?
-Were you involved or observing?
-What was the role of the professional nurse?
-What nursing theory could be linked with this example of practice?
-How does this experience compare or contrast with the literature you have read?
-Identify from practice examples of good nurse-patient relationships that you have witnessed and
discuss these with reference to the literature on nurse-patient relationship
-Link some of the 'interpersonal skills' theories with your practice experience/s
-Consider some of the skills you have observed in practice such as listening, giving feedback,
questioning, clarifying, confronting and being supportive and refer to the evidence base to support
your assertions.

Conclusion: In this section summarise your thoughts and ideas about the concept you have chosen and how this
have linked theory to practice. You could also include a short reflective sentence on what you learned from
your observations and study on this concept
