PROTON AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURER IN MALAYSIA
Proton Automobile is one of the leading car manufacturer in Malaysia their office is based in Subang Jaya, and Sham Alam Sengalor, Malaysia while their production plant is in Tanjung Malim Perak, Proton Automobile was established in 1979 by their former Prime Minister Tun Mahathir Mohamad but it was incorporated until 1983 and finally in July 1985 they have launched the Proton Saga that began their success. One of their most competitive advantage is their pricing strategy that the government has kept them to maintain its price because of rebates they have gained certain tax exemption provision. In fact they have become very successful that in just a year they have developed 90,000 units and continuously increasing in their production.
In 1986 they have launched 10,000 Proton Saga 1.5 Salon and Aeroback model in their country, the popularity of their automobile has also spread to their neighboring countries and the demand has been very high so they are able to produce another 50,000 different Proton Saga models to countries in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Brunei, Malaysia and later in UK countries. In ten years of their operation in 1996 they have already reached their 1 million automobile productions to introduce different models especially designed to fit the request of their local and foreign clients. The model of Tiara, Putra, Wira, Satria and Perdana has also been launched.
In their quest for creativity and innovation towards technological advancement they have constructed their Transmission Assembly Plant in Shah Alam and in the year of 2000 they have launch another model in Norwich United Kingdom in their Lotus factory, the Campro Engine. In Malaysia and International sales network they have also delivered quality assurance and warranty system not just for the whole automobile purchase but to each and every part of the car, they also have a wide distribution network of parts and supplies for prompt services and delivery in Malaysia although in other countries they may have limited supplies depending on models that have been introduced, they also ensure that their automobile’s parts has undergone to international safety standard using the best materials.
Because of their success and continuous productivity in foreign market they have also decided to develop Production Plant factory and Sales Offices in United Kingdom, Middle East, Asia, Europe, Africa and Australia. Because of their success they continue to deliver its value and ideology of quality and innovation towards improvement of their model products to ensure customers satisfaction. They have lived up to their production expectation and quality that they have also garnered local and international recognition coming from different award giving bodies; in 1987 Proton car UK ltd. Awards for distributorship in Ireland Republic, in 1988 they have received three prestigious awards for quality in British International Motor Show, in 1993 they have received Asian Management Award in Operations Management given by the Asian Institute of Management and many other prestigious awards in different categories.
In 1996 they have acquired 63.75% shares in Lotus Group International Ltd. And later in 2003 they have gained a complete control in such company, in 2005 they have also acquired a majority shares of Italy’s MV Agusta, Husqvarna and Cagiva motorcycles. And because of their acquisition they have also adapted their leading edge development and production process and creative engineering. Proton automobile provides the most comprehensive Research and Development facilities in developing their models. Their production process includes state of the art development of parts to final products, Usually from the initial stage requires 24 to 36 months in product design, conceptual framework, brainstorming and product segmentation to deliver a new style.
Their design promises to deliver strong powerful output and good emission. Because of their powerful engine they have competed in international racing competition where they also gain popularity, one of their most popular car racing model is the Proton R3 this model carried out the Malaysian team in the Asia Pacific Regions while the APRC model is also a high performance it can withstand the toughest challenges, high terrain, hot and cold weather condition the engine would still function. They have competed in car raising challenge as a part of their promotion. R3 started its collaboration with Proton and Mitsubishi in 1983 and together they have formed the racing team and winning from different categories, their team has also won the best Malaysian Entry Award and Manufacturer award. They also garnered numerous car racing award from different local and international rally and competition.
