Issues to be Addressed in Order to Ensure

the Effective Use of ICT in Schools

With the continued expansion of globalization around the world, it can be seen that technology and community continue to play very significant parts in the growth of the economy. Knowledge and information has become a very important part in the world and have been used in several aspects around the world. As such, training of the children who are to use these findings is completely vital, even as the knowledge that they compile can be added to over the years.

The further development of technology has thus called for the need to ensure that schools continue to be updated with these knowledge and also continue with providing their students with the best premise that will allow them to build improvements and developments on their previous designs. This, however, entails the different planning and organization structures that need to be focused on if they are to do so. As is with every plan, however, the organization of such plans may always be met with some hindrances. Schools have to maintain proper planning to ensure that all of the concerns will be met.

One of the concerns that has been raised is getting the budget that will allow for the continued education of the children; technology, especially recent ones, is always required to be up-to-date and helpful for the students, thus there is the need for the school to ensure that they are able to get these products. However, technologies that are newly-released are always expensive, thus putting the schools into a difficult situation of finding ways to obtain the funds that will maintain their studies.

Another concern that the education departments and the schools have is gaining a teacher who is well-trained and has practice not only with their specialty but also with regards to education provision, thus entitling them not to only be up-to-date with the current trends and uses of technology, but they may also be required to branch from their knowledge and also be able to provide several technological information concerning other sources. At the same time, they must also be knowledgeable when it comes to educating others and thus they must know the different teaching methods that they may use for students. The combination on facing information concerning handling the student while also keeping up with the latest methods of information-exchange may be stressful and difficult. Moreover, there is also the question on the quality of the teaching methods and knowledge of the professors, especially with the private companies’ demand on workers in their ICT department. Due to the importance of privacy especially in the fact of the electronic and information age, there is the growing demand for ICT-trained users thus also raising the competitive qualities that they may possess. With companies focusing on their own profits and thus hiring better skilled ICT-trained worker, and those who may not find other work may thus (as is usually the case) simply take the position of the teacher.

This, however, serves to be disadvantageous for the school and, as an extension, their students who may thus not be helpful to their ideas. Moreover, funds for the further training of the teachers are also needed to be given in order to continue to give the students the best education that their school can offer; this means that the school must spend more money no only for the elaboration of their laboratories but also with the continued education of their teachers in an effort to keep up with the information, especially during a time when technology is quick to develop.

Other problems that may involve are the maintenance of the hardware as well as the continued upgrade of the software. Indeed, as seen through this point of view, offering ICT courses is one that requires higher funds as well as constant upgrades and changes, especially at the rate in which the ICT is developing. At the same time, the requirements of networking and the need for them to have at least compatible software and hardware may lead to hindrances with regards to continued education and also with the students keeping up with the latest offers, thus lowering not only the school’s standards but also the chances of the students to keep up with the requirements.

The different dilemmas this pose shows that there is the great chance of snags when it comes to establishing ICT departments; however, it is not to say that it is a fruitless effort. With the growing demands for ICT in private and state companies, these will continue to be kept up and will be needed for further department growths around the world.
