Short Formal Report

Climbing the ladder:  Short report summarizing data about corporate opportunities for women (no additional research required)

As assistant to the director of human resources for a large advertising firm, you hear the concerns of many employees.  Lately, increasing numbers of women have been complaining about being passed up for promotions and management positions.  They feel that men receive preferential treatment, even though man women are more highly qualified.

Your team has already conducted some research into the problem.  Table 11.3 shows several key statistics about the men and women working for your company.  Table 11.4 depicts how executives in Fortune 1000 companies see the barriers to the advancement of women, and Table 11.5 show why female executives believe that women should have more opportunities in the corporate world.  These data may help shed light on the possibility of sex discrimination at your company.  Because your company believes in fair and equal treatment for all employees, regardless of gender, you know your boss will be interested in this information.
