* 5 thesis statements that compare classical view of management with human relations movement.

Thesis statements:

  • In business, management science is more favored than human relations because it treats issues in rational, objective and quantitative terms rather than rely on intuition.

  •

  • The slogan “People are our most important resources” is a false and hypocritical statement because when revenues of top management fails, they result to mass-layoffs, shoving out their “most important resource”.

  •

  •  Unions should be encouraged by an organization, because according to Hoerr (1991), “strong unions can make stronger companies”(p. 31).

  •

[Note: Unions are traditionally perceived as obstacles to competitiveness.(Devine & Trayner, 1996) ]

  • The human relations movement is not an effective philosophy to be applied by managers, because even though the employees are happy, they are unproductive.

  •

  • Because the goal of both science management movement and human relations movement is to ensure an organization’s success, the reconciliation between the two styles of management is possible.
