Personality traits, leadership styles and socio-demographic variables towards job performance in an agricultural research organization

Objectives There is ample need for comprehensive research investigation denoting in effects of the three variables (personality traits, leadership styles and socio-demographic variables) adhering towards the recognition of job performance placed by research organization, for this study it links to agricultural research organization to be located in Nigeria .The using and organizing of preliminary literature review places an important weight that assume better research methods, whatever methods there is like, through experiment basis of the mentioned variables acquires proponent information and knowledge support base through certain secondary data and that possible other research methods can also be manifested in this research. Questions 1.    What is job performance? How is it applied to agriculture based research? Discuss    2.    How job performance relates to personality traits in the agricultural research organization? Explain 3.    How job performance relates to leadership styles in the agricultural research organization? Explain 4.    How job performance relates to socio-demographics in the agricultural research organization? Explain 5.    What is meant by personality trait? How it affects job performance of the agricultural organization? 6.    What is meant by leadership style? How it affects job performance of the agricultural organization? 7.    What is meant by socio-demographics? How it affects job performance of the agricultural organization Hypothesis H1: There is positive effect between personality traits’ variables towards job performance H2: There is negative effect between personality traits’ variables towards job performance H3: There is positive effect between leadership styles’ variables towards job performance H4: There is negative effect between leadership styles’ variables towards job performance H5: There is positive effect between socio-demographic variables towards job performance H6: There is negative effect between socio-demographic variables towards job performance

Sample of Literature

Personality is relatively enduring characteristic that makes an individual unique and different from every other individual. It relates to people characteristic tendencies to behave, think and feel in certain ways ( 1995), personality traits are usually identified by what people do, the behavior they exhibit ( 1996). The organization’s behavior in given situation is better understood by the team’s personality  (1997). Moreover, the suitability of employees' job performance in accordance to personality, leadership for instance, makes it possible for the agriculture research organization to contribute meaningfully to the growth of Nigerian agriculture industry ( 2000). Furthermore,  (2003) have noted that research on job performance in lieu to the variables incurs an area that is often ignored in contemporary research. Thus, several researchers in Nigeria such as  (2005) have reported that personality variables account for various behaviors, as certain personality attributes of employees would predict concern for their job performance success. There is readiness to respond in certain way under certain given circumstances motivating research action because of stimulated need of interest favorably dispose research to showing job performance indicators. The position and aspiration of agriculture organization in Nigeria could make certain performance needs more important and invariably direct the variables in relative intensity of motive among employees (1996).

Methodology The recognition as well as presence of dependent variables namely: personality traits, leadership styles and socio-demographic variables, independent variable which is the job performance and Agricultural research organization being the moderating variable. The construction of research design as the variables be included in job performance indicators of available research instrument and provides scales for their measurement. Research findings will report in certain correlations personality traits, leadership styles and socio-demographic variables towards job performance with literature based awareness. The using of survey research will need to be embarked engaging in employees of agriculture based organization in Nigeria as research respondents upon administering standards for job performance tool instrument that measures personality traits, leadership styles and socio demographic aspects. The research respondents are not completely representative of agricultural research organization in Nigeria because the sample can drawn only at Ibadan. The study demonstrates the need for case study applications in Nigeria's agriculture research as there demonstrates job performance of agriculture employees in assessment and predicting of valid outcomes. Thus, investigating research on personality, leadership and job performance being predictors of job performance, investigate moderating effects of several study characteristics on scaling validity, emphasize similarities within agriculture centered subgroups.
