Topic: How can time management increases revenue in an organization?

Introduction

            Long-term work objectives are: guaranteed productivity and customer relations, sustainable competitive advantage when it comes to technologies involved in the operations, and also employee development. On the other hand, short-term goals include the application of theoretical and experiential learning as well as continuous learning within the workplace. In managing my time and achieving objectives, it is very vital to maintain a schedule which indicates the lists of activities to be done with particular allocation of time. All activities to be done should be directed to the achievement of the desired goal. However, there are times wherein constraints are present. Among this are unpredictable changes brought about by lack of resources (e.g. financial or human resources) and the flexibility of the plan itself.

Time management is one of the essential factors in business development. In the processes of planning in business, time management can help enhance the flexibility of employees and business progress (Yukl, 2002).  During the turn of the century, the world experiences more drastic changes than before, which include changes in the environment, culture, education, knowledge, the society, and technology. The world has evolved into a massive ball of information and technology that led to the expansion and the development of the society in several aspects. However, despite the improvement of the performance of many companies, these changes also contributed to the distress of some, which are not apt for these changes. From this, it can be understood that, existing and persisting in the business industry is not as easy as it seems. Because of these, many business organisations and companies are encountering a variety of problems and issues that determine their success or failure in the business arena and in the industry and even the construction industry is not an exemption. These problems and issues arise from the external and internal changes that the company encounters. With regards to this, certain management procedures especially time management should be practiced in order to enhance the business practices and development of the construction company.

Objectives of the Study

            Time management must be considered in a business to enable the business manager to budget time and energy effectively.  It would be helpful to divide the project into phases and assign dates for the completion of each phase since this would systematise the conduct of the project and minimise the natural tendency to procrastinate.

As previously stated, this study will be considering the issues and impact of time management with regards to revenue of a business. The issue thus is whether time management practices in a company is significant to their business operation. The study aims to have a significant contribution the development of business process.

            This proposed study seeks to achieve the following objectives:

  • To determine how time management helps the business process of a construction company;
  • To evaluate the effects of time management on employees and revenue of the construction company;
  • To determine how time management can bring about mobility in the services of business; and increase business revenue.
  •

    Significance of the study

                This study plays a significant role in business development since many companies especially in construction business are now considering time management to be more competitive. Basically, these companies are embracing the strategy to their business and their overall business process to increase business development. Moreover, the study will be significant in management/business firms in a sense that it will broaden their knowledge about time management and will help them decide if the business strategy is more of an advantage or a disadvantage. Furthermore, it will contribute to business research. This can be used as a future reference for future research that will focus on other factors of time management or other issues concerning business and financial progress. In addition, this study might become of great use to different businesses because if ever proven in this study that time management is more advantageous than disadvantageous, it will have a positive bounce on them. Research materials are useful in persuading people to adopt something new like the credit circle in business organisations.

    Research Methodology

    To achieve the objective of this proposed research, the author of the research opted to use descriptive method of research. The purpose of considering this type of research design is to describe the nature of a condition or topic, as it takes place during the time of the study and to explore the cause or causes of a probable condition. The researcher opted to use this kind of research considering the desire to acquire relevant data from relevant documents (Creswell, 1994).  For this research, content analysis will be done to the information in order to answer two levels of questions – the descriptive and the interpretive. Descriptive questions focused on what the communication contains. Interpretative questions focused on what the contents was likely to mean. The process entailed searching through one or more information to answer questions that an investigator brings to the search (Barnett, 1991).
