Organizational Culture and Employee At Nestle Foods Nigeria PLC

Introduction

For all of the business organizations around the world, strategies and their effectiveness are the most appropriate word that can be equaled in “competitiveness”. In the marketplace where there are many competitors, the organization can only rely on the effectiveness of the people in creating sound decisions and valuable performances for the implemented strategies. Various organizations managed to diagnose the determinants that can be the essential factors in the “sink or swim” scenario of the business and that is through the organizational culture and performance of the key employees.

Background and Problem Statement

The concern of the businesses in both product and service industry originated from the influence of globalization. Because of the pressures received by the organizations, developments and continuous analysis in business environment aided the effectiveness of the organization’s performance. Aside from the planning and implementation of programs, the organizations are trying to achieve the employees’ commitment and building the impressive organizational culture. Various studies concluded that management linked the employees with the values, norms, and artefacts of the organization and incorporated with the system towards the organizational culture. Since organizational culture and employees are linked, what is the effectiveness of the culture and employees in the Nestle Foods Nigeria PLC?  

 

Research Aim and Objectives

The main aim of the study is to identify the organizational culture and employees, as well as the impact, in the Nestle Foods Nigeria PLC. In order to fulfill the aim of the study, there are three objectives that should be satisfied. First is to determine the extent of organizational culture and employee towards the performance of the organization. Second is to recognize the interrelationship of the organizational culture in the performance of the employees within the organization. And third is to describe the performance as the effect of employee’s effort and contribution in the organization.

Literature Review

At first, the management needs to explain the culture to the employees to get familiar with the system. In this process, the organizational culture can affect the employees’ performance or motivational factors. By the means of learning environment, the organizational culture can affect the deliverance of employees’ performance in the organization. The performance pertains to the ability of the individual to carry out the assignments or tasks given by the superior. Once the employee accomplished the requirements, the job performance became the effect of the employee in modifying the abilities and roles within the organization. On the other hand, the culture of the organization continuously develops through the support of improvement of the styles and performance on their job. In the long-run, the quality can be achieved as manifested in the organizational culture. The corporate or organizational culture leaves the evidences that leaders are aware about the fields of strategic management, organizational behavior, and organizational developments. So far, the effect of organizational culture on the performance can be associated with mixed results (Ojo, 2009). In the consumer goods industry, the Nestle Foods Nigeria PLC is aware about the global alliances and strategies that might lower the risk of market entry. In this case, the organizational should set an effort on discovering the ways to gain the benefit from the existing marketing and distribution of the Nigerian company. The positive approach of the organization in strengthening the internal elements (system, people, and decision making) are the most effective factor that can boost the continuous of every organization – only if the leaders managed those elements well (Lead Capital, 2009). Because of the strategic responses of the organization in the food manufacturing industry, there is an existing desire that possesses the capabilities to compliment with the existing strategies. This is through the focus in the participation of the employees with the requirements of the organization (Dayo, 2001).

Methodology

The suggested method in the study is through the use of survey and interview. First, the survey will be implemented among the participants, who are the employees that will represent the departments of Nestle Foods Nigeria PLC. There are 100 participants who will answer the questionnaires regarding the effects of organizational culture. Second, the interview is for the managers/supervisors who will assess the performance and commitment of the employees towards the organization. The method is applicable in the study in order to facilitate the relationship between the corporate culture and performance. 

 

Conclusion

Skills can be the most important action that an employee can contribute in the entire organization’s success. If the skills are combined with continuous learning, then there is a strong built corporate culture that can boost the improvement in both employees and organization.
