Place along a continuum ten crimes of violence. Identify which of the crimes you selected is the least offensive and which crime is the most violent. Violent crimes are not crimes limited to acts that cause injury; rather they are crimes that also have the potential to cause physical injury or place someone in a state of fear that an injury will occur. Violent crimes can also include criminal acts involving threats of violence toward the victim's family or friends.
Develop a continuum of violence based on your subjective perception of the amount of force needed to commit the crime. Submit your continuum of violence as a flow chart in a word document. Be sure to include a brief description of the elements of the crime that support its position in your continuum. For example, if you rank murder as one of the crimes you selected for your continuum of violent behavior, the first element might be premeditation and the second element might be if the murder was committed while participating in a forcible felony. The continuum would then appear in this manner:

1. Murder.
* Premeditation.
* Participation in a forcible felony

1. Intimate partner violence
2. Sexual assault
3. Child abuse
4. Elder abuse
