In November 1849, the University College, Cork started to open their doors to the applicants student. The UCC is established to become the constituent university of the National University of Ireland under the Universities Act. This University is taught by a world-class and competent educators and center of research-led curriculum which can really attract potential students. At the present the UCC is composed over sixty academic departments which are under the supervision of eight faculties, namely; Arts, Celtic Studies, Commerce, Engineering, Food Science and Technology, Law, Medicine (including Dentistry) and Science. With the quality of education that the UCC being possess the student population of the University is drastically increasing, almost thirteen thousand undergraduate and postgraduate students, thus they need to expand their campus with the combination of past and present structures.    

            Being aware the life of UCC, the university conducts an orientation programs for the new students or to the visiting students to help them settle in, and to provide them some overview about the life while on the campus. Furthermore, through informal reception, the visiting students have the chance to be acquainted to other students, academic and administrative staff that is responsible to their welfare while at the University. On the other hand the University has their own publications being publish in the school. These publications will help the students to update and be aware the issue of the University. These publications are controlled by UCC’s Office of Media and Communications in which this office is responsible for internal and external communications between students, faculties and administrators in which they deliver accurate and time bounded information to them regarding the latest issue and event at UCC. The Media and Communication issues of publications include, The Guide (a weekly events listing), UCC News (a monthly staff magazine) and the Graduate (an annual magazine for alumni).

            The Guide, this magazine is published weekly where the students and the staff are able to aware of their weekly events. Through this magazine the students and staff will be able keep posted of their schedules because it is indicated there the date and time, the location and event. In UCC news magazine is published in the school every month. The content of this magazine includes; Health, Education, Children, History, Environments, Human Rights, Climate, Issue in the other countries, Entrepreneurship and Campus Art. In this magazine, it is dealing the current and highlight issues either outside or inside campus events. Through this magazine, it signifies that the school is not only concern the issues inside the campus but also outside. With this magazine the school is aiming to the student and staff to be keep updated the issues happening on their environment and be aware so that they will become knowledgeable people not an ignorant one. In Graduate magazine it is aim for alumni where it contents the important events and updated issue about the school. The purpose of the Graduate magazine is to let the alumni feel that they are still part of the school. In this case the alumni can submit their story of their success, messages to the school and being the updated issues happened to the school.
